Security (roles and permissions)

These screens are for administrators who control what other users can do. They appear under the Security section in the sidebar.

Roles

Menu path: Roles

Define roles (for example Manager, Cashier, Accountant). Each role is linked to a set of permissions that mirror backend modules (Reports, Items, Transactions, etc.). Assign one role (or the combination your product uses) to each staff member on the Staff screen.

Permission

Menu path: Permission

Inspect or configure the permission matrix: which modules allow read, write, or other actions. Names align with menu sections (for example TRANSACTIONS, REPORTS). Changes apply to users with roles that include those permissions—users may need to sign out and back in (or wait briefly) for updates to apply everywhere.

Tips

  • Prefer least privilege: only grant modules someone needs daily.
  • Document who changed which role when your audit process requires it.
