Cash Up

Cash Up is the process of reconciling your cash and card transactions at the end of a shift or trading day. It compares what the system recorded against what you physically count.

When to Do Cash Up

  • At the end of each shift (if running multiple shifts per day), or
  • At the end of each trading day.

Your manager will set the cashup start time in POS Settings, which determines the cut-off for each cashup period.

Before You Start

Before opening the Cash Up screen:

  1. Count all cash in the till (excluding the starting float if you're keeping it for the next shift).
  2. Reconcile your EFTPOS terminal — most terminals print an end-of-day report with the total card transactions.
  3. Have the total of any safe drops (cash removed from the till during the shift) ready.

Cash Up Process

Step 1 — Open Cash Up

Navigate to Cash Up in the main menu.

Step 2 — Select the Date

The system shows available cashup dates. Select today's date (or the correct shift date).

You will see a summary of:

  • Total orders for the period
  • Total sales
  • Average order value
  • Discount total
  • Tax collected
  • Void and cancelled order counts

Step 3 — Review Expected Amounts

The system pre-fills expected amounts based on recorded transactions:

FieldWhat It Means
Expected Till AmountCash the system recorded from all cash orders
Expected EFTPOS AmountCard transactions the system recorded
Expected Float AmountStarting cash you should have in the till

Step 4 — Enter Actual Amounts

Count and enter what you physically have:

FieldWhat to Enter
Actual Till AmountCash you counted in the till
Actual EFTPOS AmountTotal from the terminal's end-of-day report
Float AmountStarting cash you are keeping for the next shift
Safe Drop AmountCash removed from the till during the shift
Money Taken OutAny additional cash withdrawals during the shift

Step 5 — Review Discrepancies

The system calculates the difference between expected and actual amounts for each category.

  • A positive discrepancy means you have more than expected.
  • A negative discrepancy means you have less than expected.

Investigate any significant discrepancies before completing.

Step 6 — Complete Cash Up

Tap Complete Cash Up (or Submit) to finalise the reconciliation.

A cashup report is generated and saved. It can be reprinted from the Cash Up history.

The cashup screen shows a breakdown for each payment method:

Transaction CountNumber of transactions for this method
Expected AmountSystem-recorded total
Actual AmountAmount you entered
DiscrepancyDifference (expected minus actual)

Order Summary in Cashup

The cashup report includes a full order summary:

Total OrdersAll orders in the period
Total SalesGross revenue
Average Order ValueSales divided by order count
Total DiscountsAll discounts applied
Tax CollectedGST or tax collected
Void OrdersNumber and value of voided orders
Cancelled OrdersNumber and value of cancelled orders

Advance Cash / Cash Advances

If cash needs to be taken from the till during the shift (e.g., for petty cash):

  1. Tap Advance Cash in the Cash Up screen.
  2. Enter the amount being taken.
  3. Add a note describing the reason.
  4. Tap Confirm.

All cash advances are tracked and appear in the cashup discrepancy calculation as Money Taken Out.

Multi-Terminal Cashup

If your location runs multiple POS terminals, each terminal's cashup is tracked separately by its terminal name. The cashup screen displays the terminal identifier so you know which till you are reconciling.

Viewing Past Cashups

  1. Navigate to Cash Up.
  2. Tap History or select a past date.
  3. View or reprint any previous cashup report.
